After spending most of the long weekend watching old Starcraft II tournaments on YouTube (no, really, I did), I decided to do something productive with my remaining day off.
I've had this idea to do the Batman symbol bouncing around in my head for a while. I got the idea from seeing some poorly done super hero symbols while looking for wallpapers. I said to myself, "I could do better than that and it would be real 3D, not this fakey Photoshop stuff." So I did.
I debated which version of the Batman symbol to do. I settled on the Christopher Nolan version for a couple of reasons. One reason was that this version of the symbol is depicted with a back light like this fairly often and that was a big part of the idea that I had in my head. And this version looks WAY better than that super overweight atrocity that is in the new Batman vs. Superman movie.
Made with Maya, rendered with Renderman, finished in Photoshop.
|I grew up in the small town of Spring City, Utah. I graduated from Dixie State University in 2013 with a Bachelors degree in Visual Technologies. I'm currently working as a graphic designer. I do, however, have a passion about 3D art and I hope to get a job modeling things in 3D for a living.|
