Puddle on Asphalt by polygonbronson
Puddle on Asphalt
I've had this idea of doing puddles on asphalt with a single shader in Maya for a while now. It was all planned out in my head so execution was a breeze. This is the result. Pretty good for just a few minutes of work. :) Made with Maya, Renderman, and Photoshop.

Nuka-Cola Logo Redesign Wallpaper by polygonbronson
Nuka-Cola Logo Redesign Wallpaper
I have really been enjoying Fallout 4 lately. However, the game is not without its flaws. The most annoying of these (to me at least) is some sloppy design elements. Example: on a in-game collectible, a bobble head, they have the company name "VAULT-TEC" written on the base. Unfortunately, there is a serious kerning error so the name appears like "VAUL T-TEC" The gap is so bad It is almost the size of a full space! Every time I see it I want to throw my controller at the screen.
There are tons of cool, retro elements in the game and one that has a particularly significant tie-in is a soft drink called Nuka-Cola as an obvious parody of Coca-Cola. It's an important brand in the game since the bottle caps are used as currency. However, whoever was in charge of making the logo seriously dropped the ball. I have always hated the design.
Recently I have been making a prop from the game called Nuka-Cola Quantum. Today I made the label for my bottle and I took the liberty of redesigning the logo. I'm very happy with the result. My redesign isn't perfect but it's a fair bit better than theirs. I tried to keep some elements of the real Coca-Cola logo with copying it, so it feels similar with being the same. If they had spent a few hours making a nice logo the game would feel so much more polished.
Made with Illustrator and Photoshop.

Susan the 50s Girl - Closeup by polygonbronson
Susan the 50s Girl - Closeup
This is Susan! :D (Big Grin) I have been itching lately to do a 3D project but I wanted to do something I could do in a weekend or two.
I decided to get some more mileage out of my witch character and give her a 50s makeover. This made it straightforward and it only took about 30 hours to knock this out. I also forced myself to keep the background a simple studio to save oodles of time. I did, however, make it a fun color so it wasn't totally boring.

Made with Maya, rendered with Renderman, finished in Photoshop.

Batman: The Dark Knight by polygonbronson
Batman: The Dark Knight

After spending most of the long weekend watching old Starcraft II tournaments on YouTube (no, really, I did), I decided to do something productive with my remaining day off.

I've had this idea to do the Batman symbol bouncing around in my head for a while. I got the idea from seeing some poorly done super hero symbols while looking for wallpapers. I said to myself, "I could do better than that and it would be real 3D, not this fakey Photoshop stuff." So I did.

I debated which version of the Batman symbol to do. I settled on the Christopher Nolan version for a couple of reasons. One reason was that this version of the symbol is depicted with a back light like this fairly often and that was a big part of the idea that I had in my head. And this version looks WAY better than that super overweight atrocity that is in the new Batman vs. Superman movie.

Made with Maya, rendered with Renderman, finished in Photoshop.

I grew up in the small town of Spring City, Utah. I graduated from Dixie State University in 2013 with a Bachelors degree in Visual Technologies. I'm currently working as a graphic designer. I do, however, have a passion about 3D art and I hope to get a job modeling things in 3D for a living.
